David Heald is a New York and Connecticut based photographer who collaborates with architects, landscape architects, interior designers and collectors to create distinctive views of their projects around the world. His career began with seven years in the photography studio at the Cleveland Museum of Art, where he acquired expertise in photographing art objects from one of the finest encyclopedic collections in the United States.
Heald has been Photographer for the Guggenheim Museum in New York since 1981. In addition to his extended study of Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic museum on Fifth Avenue, he has photographed numerous architectural projects including Richard Gluckman’s Museo Picasso Malaga, Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Bilbao, Taliesin East in Wisconsin, and the exquisite palazzo and garden of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice.
Architecture of Silence, Heald’s acclaimed book from his decade long project photographing medieval sacred buildings in France was published in 2000 by Harry Abrams in English and Éditions de la Martinière in a French edition. More recently his passion for photography has evolved to include portraits, travel and landscape studies.
